1:05 – Arthur’s Gift 12/1 ew

It pays to follow the better jockeys in races like this and Zac Baker should be right up there with these conditionals. The forecast looks like rain and Arthur’s Gift stays all day. The jockey, the rain (hopefully) and the price, make Arthur’s Gift a very attractive each way bet.

1:40 – Quel Destin 9/2

I love this horses attitude and he would be better then these over hurdles last year. As a juvenile Fusil Raffles would have had the most potential as a juvenile but lost his way last year. With Nicholls in flying form I’d expect Quel Destin to go very close if he’s taken to chasing.

2:15 – Slate House 9/1 ew & Kauto Riko 50/1 ew

Slate house went off favourite and arguably was coming there to win until he fell. His form seems to come early on in the season around this time year and I feel soft ground (if it rains) will improve his chances. Off a higher mark, I think he’s got a a great chance under Robbie Power.

I’d give a shout to Kauto Riko having run well in the Peterborough at 100/1 behind Top Notch last season. Highly tried last season and comes here off the back of a wind op. 50/1 is generous and his chances will be amplified if it rains.

14:50 – On The Blind Side 10/1 ew

Never really convinced about him as a chaser and known to be a horse that doesn’t like a big field. This is clearly not a small field but reverting back to hurdles might bring about some of the old spark and some of the glimpses of form he showed as a novice.
